I just purchased this boat earlier this year from a friend who was the original owner. He upgraded the factory Tige riders cruise with a Wakeboard Pro Perfect pass unit. I can only get the cruise to work about 1 out of 10 tries. Is it supposed to beep when the cruise engages? It there a certain method of throttling that needs to be done? Any advise would be appreciated. The digital gauge on the dash turns on and says the system is "ON" , but can't figure out why it doesn't control the speed when i get around the correct MPH. I tried to download the manual from Perfect Pass, but i think they only go back to about 2003 and this was install in late 01 or early 02.

Hey Al Pistol, had the same problem with mine and after some searching around on this site I found a thread about luricating the linkage, and one about chceking the servo to make sure it was working properly.
To check the servo; Locate the perfect pass servo which is on an aluminum bracket on the back of the motor and has a black dial like knob on it and has a cable that runs on to the throttle body. make sure the dial is tightened all the way clockwise and then back it off about a full rotation. Then turn the key on and observe if the servo tightens (clockwise again) the cable back up,,,if so then it is ok.
Then pull the air filter shroud and air filter and lubicate the throttle body linkage with some spray lubicant, specifically spray the linkage area with the L shape copper piece is right by the throttle body (it will look like it is broken but that is how it is supposed to look) there's a picture of this of it where I discussed it with someone else with a similiar problem (search my post). Then work the throttle back and forth a few time to help work it around.
You can loosen (turn counterclockwise) the perfect pass servo dial and create some slack in the line so the lubricant will penetrate the cable better, then just tighten it back up.
This worked for us and seems to be working great now, initially it wouldn't hold the speeed we set it at , it beeped like it was suppossed but kept climbing rapidly past the speed we set.
Good luck!Last edited by spyderwebb; 08-08-2010, 04:55 PM.

Servo is working just fine. I lubed the cable and noticed that there was sort of a "kink" in the cable near the throttle linkage. This may have been causing it to bind up. I carefully straitened it out and lubricated and it seems to move very smoothly. I wont be able to test on the water for a couple of weeks since i'm going on vacation out of town. One thing i don't understand is why mine would not beep? Could you give me advice on how you use your system/throttle action from idle to pulling speed? I have only been able to get mine to beep once or twice in the few months I have had the boat. I was told to start at "full throttle", then it should beep at you and then you back off the throttle just a little. I think the guy i bought it from never really understood how it worked so his instructions may be a little mis-informing. Thanks spyderweb.2001 21V Riders Edition - 08 F-150 King Ranch

this how I use mine. All boats are just a little different depending on size of boat, weight in boat, size of rider, water conditions and sharpness of turns to be made.
1.turn unit on by pressing on/off it will tell you press up arrow-press up arrow unit will say on.
2.set speed by pressing up or down arrow to desired speed.
3.taking off (here is where the size and skill of rider come into play) I am husky LOL 225# (down from 256# thank you LOL sorry) I am experienced rider so you dont need to baby me. So for me I tell my wife full throttle hit once I pop up back off( here is where you will have to experiment with your boat and setup) for my boat its back off to 60-70% throttle (guessing)It kind of gets to be more of a habbit on how far to pull back. I ride at 22mph. At this throttle setting it gives it room to acclerate through the corners and back off if need be.
4.cruise takes over after a few seconds at 60-70%(for my boat) PP will take control and dial t in at 22mph. Thats when you here the beep. Now if you leave it at full throttle it will pull it back down put it will take to long and you will be doing like 40mph before it catches (been there done that I thought the wife was trying to kill me) The trick is to pull back off some but not to much, because it will need to speed up when you turn. If you dont leave room for it to accelerate in the corners it will bog down scrub speed and makes it hard on the rider. It is also hard on the servo. In that its trying to turn and pull cable and cant. This will burn up the servo.
5.When rider falls pull back to neutral and idle back (well because power turns are bad) and if you give it to much throtle when comming back PP will try and kick in and the driver may not be ready for it. So its best/safest just idle back.
When your done using it and want to turn it off. Put boat in neutral wait fot it to stop moving forward press the on/off button and it will say unit off.
Ok so thats my down and dirty crash course on PP. Hope it helped. Its not really hard to use once you figure out your boats sweet spot. Once you get the hang of it you will womder how you ever did with out it. I know it saved my marriage! Its a must have for sure. Let me know if you have any other ??

Lubed the servo cable and linkage, re-positioned the servo so the cable doesn't hit the engine cover. Took out yesterday and seemed to work perfectly. Mine does not beep for some reason though, but the cruise engages and takes over right after i pass the set speed. Thanks for the advice guys. Not sure if the beeping makes a damn anyway.2001 21V Riders Edition - 08 F-150 King Ranch
