    Oil Gauge reading zero

All other gauges work perfectly. Tho oil gauge though is not working. The only thing I have done is taken of the wires and have reset them. No joy.

We've run the boat this way for quite awhile. I checked the oil and it looks good. The temp never gets above 170. The engine is working great, but I am worried and want to get the gauge operating again.

Any ideas on where I ought to look?

With the key on, pull the wire off the sender and see what the gauge does. The ground it and see what it does. This should get the gauge to do a sweep and if so, that's a strong indicator that the gauge is functioning and that the sender is the problem.

Thanks Mike. I am not sure where the sender is on my boat, but I'll look through the manual to try to find it.

probably down on the block where the oil filter is (or filter adaptor if it has a remote filter).

If that is the oil sender (red marks) which wire am I to test - the one on the right (brown/white) or the left (blue/white)?? Neither wire seems to run all the way to the helm and attach to the gauge.

Both are oil pressure senders. The larger canister looking one with the blue wire controls the gauge, the smaller one controls the sounder/alarm.
