Hey, Im a Mastercraft (2005 x10) owner, with Indmar 350 MCX, has anyone on this forum turned over to Tige after owning a Malibu, Mastercraft 350 MCX. How is the gas consumption??? Tige states that it is better on gas, hull and PCM engine, i would like some real world oppinions on this. I was looking at the 22ve or the rz1. Thanks

I can't personally tell you the difference - but if you register for free at boattest.com - they have independent test results of Gallons/Hour usage.
Just out of curiosity, I have some friends who just got a MC x45, with the 375 hp 6.0L. Stats below, comparing with my 24Ve with a 409 hp 6.0L at Cruise Speed(3500 RPM on each boat):
Manufacturer & Model Tigé 24Vé (2010-) MasterCraft X-45 (2006-09)
Top Speed (mph) 46.1 42.2
Cruise Speed (mph) 25.4 27.9
Cruise Fuel Consumption (gph) 7.3 12.4
Cruise Fuel Economy (mpg) 3.48 2.25
Cruise Range (mi) 150 182
Time To Plane (sec) 4.0 sec. 5.5 sec.
0-30 mph (sec) 6.8 sec. 9.4 sec.
dBa 81 88
Sorry about the formatting - but as you can see, at 3500 RPM, the Tige burns about 5 gallons less/hour, at only a 2.5 mph difference. No wonder that MC needs a 90 gallon tank (50 gallon tank in the Tige is plenty for us).

The numbers above are consistent with my 09 RZ2 (with 409 PCM). According to my fuel flow meter, I burn about 8 gph at around 25 mph.
I have been meaning to record gph for the different configurations (surf at 11 mph, wake at 20 mph, empty at various speeds). Perhaps this is motivation to do so.

If you go to boattest .com, some of the data on MC and CC is harder to find the last couple of years, you might have to look up archive, they quit posting some because their numbers were bad, I know the 2006 X15 which is 22 long 4000bls went 171 miles on 90gals, tige 22ve 400lbs went 168 miles on 48gals.
The lake that we test boats on is the same lake that yanmar diesel tested and did all the ground work on the MC and then on the CC with a 260hp and 310hp yanmar, they showed me their data and they just got to the fuel economy of my 24ve, they said with the 260hp they could beat my figures at about a 22,000 dollar option.

I'm at 13 hours on this tank and the needle is at E, never gotten this many hours out of 47 gallons before (think that is what my tank is). Haven't filled it to see how much it really takes but this tank was super impressive. I'm usually in the 8-11 hour range per tank depending on the lake I am at and how much wakeboarding vs wakesurfing we do.

Hopefully someone can chime in to tell us if the numbers from boattest are accurate for the MC.

thanks for the replies, first summer on this Mastercraft it was low hours (115hrs) and a good price, had her tuned and serviced by a Mastercraft dealer. Never kept track of the gas usage but will start to see to compare to something that seems MORE efficient. I live on a lake so we use it enough (for everything, but the surf bug bit me hard.) Off the top of my head it might be as close to ~55.00/week difference in gas (we pay 1.08/ liter in Canada).

My 20V used about 5.5 gallons per hour cruising at a consistent 30 mph on Bullshoals cruising end to end which takes a few hours. In contrast my brother has a 1999 MC Maristar 230 Sport which is a 23 ft MasterCraft with 340hp and he has 50+ gallon tank and burns a little over 6-7 gph at same cruising speed on Bullshoals cruising with us.
On his MC were it was common for us to slalom ski in the morning for a couple of hours for 4 of us and then hydrofoil for another hour or two and head in about noon or so to get lunch and out of peak sun and then go out again after 2 and repeat he would typically fill up every 3 days sometimes at 2 days over the 10 years he has had the boat. My 20V was easier on gas when yanking slalom skiers up but overall his boat is pretty good on fuel considering.
