    Broken Board Rack

Drove home from the lake yesterday and found my Tigé rack halfway off in the boat. Has anyone else had this issue? I tow with boards on the rack and just swing them inside...isn't that OK? Called the factory but the warranty guy was off today. Here's a closeup of the broken screw/bolt.

    Thanks!

    Edit: photo up later.

No....no....no....never leave the board(s) in the rack while towing the boat. Ever drive with your window down and put your arm flat out the window?...how easy it is to make your hand like an airplane and move up and down. Boards do that too...and the racks aren't built for those aerodynamics at road and freeway speeds. Doubt seriously that your warranty will cover that.

Sorry to hear about your problem. But hoopykat is correct - you never want to drive with the boards in the racks (at least never at highway speeds). The racks are only built to really be secure up to your typical wakeboat speeds, and highway speeds will exert a much greater force on the boards/racks. The force that the air exerts on an object is not linear with speed - basically, if you go twice as fast, the force is quadrupled.

Plus, imagine if one ripped out and hit another car

WELL...now I know. I'll still try warranty, but if I have to just buy it I will.

Im not sure I would tell them you were towing down the Hwy.
Don't want to be dishonest, that will sure kill the warranty.
