Loose Bolt, where does it go?

I have my boat serviced at a local shop just before the beginning of the season. I was cleaning the boat after the last trip and notice a loose bolt down by the drain inside the boat. I did some looking around and found a possible hole for it. Can anyone confirm that this is where the bolt goes? It does thread into the hole as seen in the pics. I guess this is better than loose nuts.

The pics show the engine just above the oil filter. I have a 2005 24V with a GM Vortec Engine. Any help would be appreciated.

Two things: The photo of the bolt is kinda fuzzy, but it looks the bolt has about a 3/4" shoulder on it. If so, it does not seem like it would be used for a plug, but instead used to bolt one piece to another. 2nd, the engine is painted in MP gray and the bolt looks naked.

My gut says it was used to move to the drive-train into the boat, and then was dropped by the assembler as the engine was unbolted from the hoist/sling.

I've had my 22Ve' over 3 years now and I still find nuts, bolts, and fasteners in the bildge. It probably is something that was dropped during manufacturing and assembly. I currently have about a 3/8"x3" bolt with a nylock nut on the end of it sitting at the drain plug hole in the transom. I have also seen one of the backing plates on which the oval tige emblem is attached to on the rear seat back laying loose in the bildge, that was about 2 years ago and I haven't seen it since, it has to be in there somewhere but I don't know where now.......

I will take a look at the back of my engine block to see if that same hole is vacant or if there is something in it.
I don't want to go to work, take me wake surfing instead!

I can tell you with 100% certainty it doesn't belong in the threaded hole in your picture.
