    losing throttle????

We just purchased a used 2006 24ve Tige and unfortunately haven't had much luck. The boat seemed to run fine at first but after running awhile it would lose all throttle and only run at an idle. It would go in and out of gear but would not run above idle. If I shut the key off and started it again, everything would be fine for a while and then it would do it again. I replaced the batteries and had the alternator checked and don't know what to do next. Any suggestions???

    Fail Safe Mode

It seems to be a common problem with Tige boat engines going into fail safe mode. The Tige dealer is trying to figure mine out and it only has 7 hours on it. You need to find a dealer that has the software to diag. your ECM. Good Luck!

since you said batteries I will take it you have a dual batt. sys.(wich is the main culprit of your proplem) Long story short.. You need to rewire the module for the drive by wire to the same batt. as the eng. ECM. the way it comes from the factory the DBW module is on the house battery and eng. ECM is on the eng./crank/start battery. If the two modules see a difference in voltage they go into failsafe mode.
You could also have a problem in the throttle sensors but if the rewire of the module has not been done thats the place to start for sure. esp. on a boat that only has 7 hrs. on it.

          Tige Tail, Kadonwil,

Did either of you get the throttle issue solved by the dealer? Can you post the outcome? Thanks!

kko - thanks for the great information. I am having this same issues with my 2006 Tige 22ve that I just purchased this weekend. The first time I went to start it, the auxiliary power was dead. I checked the battery and it was dead as well. Charged the battery and put it on the water for the first time tonight. Worked great for about an hour and then had the throttle problem which I now know as failsafe mode due to your explanation. I am guessing I need a new battery but would love to rewire my batteries as you described. I must admit I don't understand everything you explained. is there any way you could draw a diagram or make it more clear to a new Tige owner like myself? Thanks for your help!

Just for information, this has been a problem for all the brands in the first years of drive by wire and now as all the brands get up in hours the sensors , or shift linkage is getting some play and causeing the limp mode.
