Same thing happened to mine ,dealer fixed it with longer bolt. Looked just like your pic, missing first half of threads from to short of a bolt.

When building motors proper bolt depth is tyically (1.5 x bolt diameter)

ex. a 3/8" bolt should have (1.5 x 3/8") = 9/16" thread contact

This may not always be the case but it is a solid reference point if your having a hard time determining whether or not a bolt is long enough.
