Can someone explain the enable logic of my Speed Set system?

I'm trying to figure out what is or isn't going on with my recently purchased '08 22ve's Speedset. The only real time I've had on the water was during the demo runs, where the owner couldn't figure out if the system was working or not. Here's what we did and what I observed:

    1. The center LCD display is blank. The LCD displays in the tach and speedo work fine.
    2. With the Speedset toggle switch set, at speed, the center button was pushed. Still nothing on the center LCD. I advanced the throttle, and the boat sped up. Stabilized again, pushed the center button, then pressed the up and down buttons, no effect.

Got another $1k knocked off the purchase price for that issue, bought my new project/baby, and brought her home. I've dug into the switch panel wiring, and the wiring going to the Speedset toggle switch appears to be small gauge (18-20ish), smaller than I would expect power to be supplied through. Both wires go up towards the center LCD part of the panel. Neither wire shows any voltage when the key is in the Run position.

So I have two things that are non-functional that may or may not be related: the center display and the Speedset. Any help would be greatly appreciated directing me towards the next steps.

Thanks for any help, and have a good one,
    Mike

The speed-set system uses very little current. The touchpad is is only sending a signal for set, up or down to the ECM. The ECM drives the throttle motor as it does during normal operation.

At least one wire on the back of the speed-set turn-on rocker should have voltage with the key on RUN and two should have voltage when the switch is ON. Id solve this and retry. Even then, theres a good chance you need a new touch pad.

The LCD being blank is likely unrelated.
