    Bi-Amped Speakers, 2002 21iR

    Hey All,
We have a 2002 21iR and a couple of years ago Racoons got in and proceeded to eat some upholstery and demolished the rear speakers. Upholstery is fixed and we have been using a bluetooth speaker / i-phone for onboard music but I'm thinking of replacing the speakers. The head unit is the factor original but when I removed the rear speakers I noticed that they are a "bi-amp" set-up and I cannot find bi-amped speakers to replace them. Can I just add regular speakers or do I need to scrap the system from the head unit back and go with all new?

Can you describe in detail what you have that led you to believe you have bi-amped speakers. A Bi-amped setup would not have been an OEM setup and not a configuration I would expect an aftermarket installer to do on an average boat.

I'll have to back to the boat (in the water at the moment) and take a pic. There are 4 wires going to each speaker.

A quick google search indicates that those use an off-board cross-over. So their could be a box about the size of a pack of cigarettes somewhere not too far away from each speaker of the installed may have run the tweeters to their own amp chnls and running a band-pass setup.

Yes I Googled it as well. The thing is I cannot find any speakers that run 4 connectors like these do. So what do I replace with? Or do I need to replace all speakers from head unit back with a more normal setup? I'm not a stereo guy so appreciate the advice.

Follow the four wires from your damaged speaker to the probably nearby crossover box. Remove your damaged speaker and that box. The remaining two wires that fed the removed box are from your amplifier. Connect those two wires to whatever new two wire speaker you purchased.

Thank you. Hopefully the crossover boxes are within arms reach or near the head unit. Back to the boat I go.
                Cheers.

Choosing the best water purification method depends on your specific needs and circumstances. For emergency situations or outdoor adventures, portable filters and chemical disinfectants are practical choices. For home use, a combination of filtration and UV purification can provide comprehensive protection against contaminants. Always consider the type of contaminants you need to remove and the resources available to you.
