    Dual Battery Installation Question

2008 22ve....bought the boat about 1.5 years ago and I'm replacing the batteries. It has a dual battery setup and I just realized that the previous owner had 2 cranking batteries in it. I assume I should replace them with one cranking battery and one deep cycle? If so, I'm not sure where to locate the deep cycle. It has a Perko 1/2/all battery switch installed. One battery is connected with only two thick heavy-gauge pos/neg wires (nothing else). The other battery connection includes similar heavy gauge wires along with multiple other smaller connections/wires (probably stereo, block heater, charger etc). Which one should I connect the deep cycle to? I assume the one with multiple connections?

From what you describe, your dual battery setup IS NOT stock, so here is what I would suggest moving forward.

One main cranking battery and one deep-cycle.

On a wake boat, there are NO crucial systems, except the auto bilge circuit, that needs to be connected directly to a battery. So on the positive posts of each battery, there should be NO cables except one larger cable between the battery and the switch's #1 and #2 posts. ALL other need to be connected to the switch's "C" post.

As noted, the one exception, is the automatic bilge. This is a small brown wire with an inline fuse holder about 6-8 inches from the end. This wire should be connected directly to the deep-cycle house battery's + terminal.

Makes sense. And now that you mention it, the smaller wires connected directly to the battery are the bilge and block heater. Not the stereo etc as I mentioned above. Thanks!
