    TAPS2 New Dash Rocker Switch

    Hello,

Recently bought a 2005 20V and going over some of the basics before the summertime. The boat has the Lenco trim tab with the control module under the dash. When trying to figure out why the TAPS didn't work, I found the wires cut in the rear and the wiring from the switch in the throttle to be gone. From reading what others have posted, I will assume the control module is no longer working, however the motor does move when the wires are touched to a battery.

All that to say, I am new to wiring switches and want to make sure I get the correct thing. Looks like I need any on/off/momentary rocker switch that is DPDT, but I am seeing 4 pin vs 7 pin connectors. Any idea on the difference or things to point me in the right direction? Also, will any rocker switch work? Thinking about the max/min settings that were present before to prevent over movement, is that built in to the motor?

    Thanks for any help provided!

Could be so many different things on this one.

Does the throttle have a switch on it? if so, the control module could be bad. If no throttle switch, they could have replaced the throttle and maybe the control module works. Are the cut wires blue, green, white? If so touch green to blue and then green to white. That should make the actuator move up and down if the box is good.

    If the box is bad:

If you want a visual of the plate location, this would be the way to go.
    Oh Yeah!

Thanks for the follow up. The cut wires that I found back on the transom are only black/white. My thought was just run the existing black and white wire from the transom to an all new trim switch that I would wire in the dash. I think I actually saw one of your other posts that showed a wiring sketch. Am I off base thinking I could take the existing wires from the trim tab (white/black) and run a power line and have them all on a new rocker switch? This wouldn't show the position, but would it prevent over extension?

Regarding your earlier questions... the throttle does have a switch but trim wiring was removed.. I'll be honest I've been struggling to trace the wires to/from the control module, there's so many wires and so little space under the dash!

This is my first boat, so learning on the fly!

With this old setup I would do a polarity switching relay setup driven by the rocker switch.
