    Engine stalling on 2004 22i

My last trip out I noticed after the boat had been run for about 30 minutes and then shutdown for about 30-45 minutes, the engine was very difficult to subsequently start. The engine would turn over then sputter and stall out. I eventually was able to start the engine and then quickly advance the throttle to keep the engine running. Has anyone had a similar issue and if so how did you correct it? Thank you in advance.

Sounds like vapor lock to me. I've had similar issues, really hard to get the boat to start after its been heat soaking. Not sure if the 04's have a low pressure fuel pump, but getting one installed would help. ~45$ at an autoparts store. I'll try to find the link. I bought one but started running ethanol free only and haven't had to install it.

I have an 05 24V and did same thing. But I have the GM Vortec 6.0 and did the thermostat mod. At the same time, I changed out the low pressure and high pressure fuel pumps. I have the G-Gorce system. Also changed out fuel filter/regulator. After doing al this, I haven’t stalled. I bet one of your fuel pumps is going out. Kinda hard to figure why mine was stalling and hard to start cuz I did all these fixes at same time.

Vapor lock was my first thought. I only run ethanol free 91 octane AKA supreme. The first several outings I had with the boat I did not experience this issue. It was only on my last trip did it happen.

I’ll bet it’s a fuel pump issue. Hook up a fuel pressure tester to the rail. It’s a schrader valve. Research what your fuel pressure should be. And watch the gauge when fuel is priming. Gauge should show a STEADY rise till it reaches its proper pressure. If it’s not steady then it’s a fuel pump issue.
