Spare Propeller

I have an '08 Z1 that I want to buy a spare prop for. The boat came with an ACME 537. Does anyone have suggestions as to different brands or different model altogether to use as spare? I also want to know why you suggest something, not just an answer with make and model. I know the 537 is good, but is there something better that I should use for my main prop and put the 537 aside as the spare? FYI - I am staying with 4 blade.

I see you are here in Colorado so I would recommend the Acme 1235. While I don't have this prop (yet), that is the one that most people upgrade to if they run more weight, go up in altitude, etc.

Call and talk to Bill Weeks @ ACME props. Based on how you use your boat and at what elivation the lakes you visit are, he can make the perfect recommendation. From there, contact the ACME dealer of your choice and they will quote you a price on that recommended prop. It's also a good idea to consider a Weekend Saver kit, or at least a removal tool to keep on hand.

The 537 is a great all-around prop, but hits it's limitations when the boat is heavily weighted or the user boats at a high elivation lake. A prop with a lower pitch is the typical change that regains the lost power and hole-shot. There are a handful of props that will be a prop in pitch, increase in diameter, change in cup and any combo of the 3. This is where the expertise of the folks at ACME is needed.
