    Saltwater USe

    Hi,

    I found a great deal on a 07 Tige 20V.

I'm thinking of buying it, but I want to use this boat in saltwater.

What steps do I need to take in order to safely use this boat without having it damaged by the salt?

    Any recomendations?

Maybe try a closed loop cooling system and a sea strainer?

    Where are you located?

You will need a flushing unit, sea strainer, ground straps on the steering, and some protective sprays on the engine mount hardware.
This will make the boat equivlant to a stock mercruiser.
The next step for maximum protection would be a heat exchanger.
You will also need a saltwater trailer.
About 70% of the boats we sell are saltwater used.
We have Tiges that we sold in 2005 that are run 100% in salt and have had very few issues , just normal maintenace, how good the boat holds up will be how well your serviceing dealer guides you in maintenace.
If I can be of any assist with additional questions I am Fortes Inboard Connection.

Cost about 700.00 for the first stage, if you want a heat exchanger you can add about 2200.00, and then the trailer upgrade.
