    WET CARPET

Hello all! i'm new here.. just bouthe a 2005 22v. put it in the water 3 times so far. I noticed a wet spot on the floor that re-appears every time. What do you guys think??? The hull does not fill up with water. i am at a loss of ideas. it is right by the cup holder nearest the cooler on the floor. i thought maybe it could be the cooler leaking but cannot find anything. is there a way to remove the gas tank access hatch to check it out under there??

    Thanks in advance!

Do you have a heater or ballast installed? If so, have you checked to see if those items have leaks?

BTW, welcome to the forum. You will find a ton of useful information.

      Welcome,

Make sure the cooler drain fitting has not detached from the cooler. This is not unheard of.

I do not have a heater or ballast. I suppose the previous owner may have had one or the other but it has since been removed. i'll check into the cooler drain fitting. How the heck do you get to the bottom of the cooler though??

It's the cooler drain. The cooler is in a closed compartment and any water that leaks out around the drain-fitting stays in that little compartment for MONTHS sloshing around. Pull the cooler out and ream out the hole in the floor a little so it has some wiggle room between the drain-fitting/hole when you put the drain fitting back seal around the drain with silicone.

...or you can just stop using your cooler drain plug and the water will drain out instead of leaking around the fitting. Seal it with silicine still though.

You could also try installing a very short hose to the fitting to ensure the water drains ALL THE WAY out the drain and not leaking onto the wood it's through or back into the compartment.
Other than that, Mrs. Lincoln, how was the play?

remove the screws holding the cooler in, there should be a short drain hose attatched to the bottom of the cooler which is supposed to be fed through a hole cut in the floor.
Are you using the cooler when you go out? If your not using the cooler then its unlikely this is the problem.

yeah the cooler has had water in it since the first time we took it out. i just keep filling it with ice everytime i go. I'm guessing that is the problem. Thanks Guys! i'll dig into it tonight when i get off!

ok, I'm new here too, I have not even looked at the cooler hole, should the plug be in it at all times, even if your not using the cooler? Not sure how much water I would get inside the cooler from the lake though? I don't have a leak into the boat, I'm just curious, next time I'm out I will pop the seat off and see if there is water in there..

The only water in the cooler should have gotten there by you and started out as ice I would typically pull the cooler plug on the ramp and let it drain out the bilge when we were done for the weekend. Didnt like to leave water/ice in there as it got kinda slimy by the next week. So, no, dont need to leave plug in in between outings. If you use the cooler for dry storage, leave the plug out.

ah, so it drains to the bilge, not to the exterior. That's cool. Still learning my boat. Found out the bilge works this past weekend. Rained like a son of a gun while out on the lake and the boat was filling up fast.

That thing just holds my coozies. If I put drinks in there, it would just piss my wife off every time I needed a "cold one".
