    2001 21i muffler

Ok new to boating and not sure of all the technical terms. At the back of the boat where the exhaust exits the boat, I am guessing that part where the rubber flap is located is the muffler? The right side muffler has fiberglass coming out the back not allowing the rubber flap to close. I checked the left side and it looks good, it's all smooth inside but the right side looks like it melted? Is this a one piece unit that slides thru the transom of the boat to attach to the exhaust on the motor? The rubber flap screws to the outer plastic piece and that plastic piece has screws as well so not sure what will happen if I unscrew all these pieces? Not sure how the transom is built to allow the exhaust to pass? Is there some sort of sleeve that fits in there that then attaches to the pipe from the motor?

can anyone steer me in the right direction to remove all the pieces to the back of the boat so I can get to the stern from the inside? There is a hose clamp back there that I will need to get to in order to remove the exhaust/muffler. I have the floor out and all cushions removed but need to get below the storage area!!!
Anyone know where I can get a service manual for these boats, if there is such a thing??
        Thanks

What I am seeing in the 1st pic looks to me to be either excessive soot buildup, or oil deposits. This could be from either leaking injectors or leaking valve stem seals on the exhaust valves. Iv you are seeing fiber glass there, then the flange is probably broken, but doesnt look so in the pic.

There are definetly fibers in the mix. I've cut off what I could sticking out the hole so the flap will close and after inspection definetly some fiberglass. Which flange are you referring to, not sure I understand your last comment?

I contacted Tige Manuf. the guy I spoke to at Tige said that there is a baffle inside those mufflers that can and have been known to come loose and eventually work them self out the back of the exhaust. As long as they don't block the flow he said not a real big issue, just makes that muffler louder. So, with this info. and the fact that I took the manifold elbow off last night and did not see any signs of oily blow by up there makes me believe that it is the baffle. I will run the motor and see how the exhaust and water flow is out that exhaust just to be sure I don't have any blockage. How much water should be coming out those exhaust?

              Thanks for the responses!
