So I upgraded my 1999 21V Rider's Edition with the PSS shaft seal. This seal is awesome, and the installation was actually quite easy, it was the de-installation of the transmission coupling that was a serious PITA!!
As many others have reported here, it takes a horrendous amount of pressure to separate the shaft coupling, and I tried several pulley pullers and it was extremely difficult to find one that could fit in the space, and the first two I found, one didn't have enough throw to break it loose, and the other actually broke before the coupling let loose!
Finally, the perfect tool was found. I ordered a puller from www.Grainger.com It was their item # 5U730 and it was $40. This thing was rated for 5 tons - if that didn't do it, I didn't know what would. I still had to use a massive cheater bar and hit it with a 5 lb. hammer, but that finally popped the coupling loose.
I thought maybe someone else would find this helpful. The PSS shaft seal is awesome by the way. No matter pumping out all the excess water in the hull.
