Ran my 06 24V last night and it was surging like it was starving for fuel. I ran it out of gas a few weeks back. Could the fuel filter be clogged by crap at the bottom of the tank? I bought a new fuel filter and will try to install it today. Has anyone replaced a fuel filter themselves? If so where is it located and how difficult is the job?

This should explain it, and yes its a pain. I looked at mine last night and decided to save that frustration for another day.

Probably water, not crap, the element is pretty big.Mikes Liquid Audio: Knowledge Experience Customer Service you can trust-KICKER WetSounds ACME props FlyHigh Custom Ballast Clarion LiquidLumens LEDs Roswell Wave Deflector And More

I got the filter changed yesterday. Its pretty easy. You just unscrew the center screw in the bottom water cooling portion of the filter housing. I then used an oil filter wrench to unscrew the cannister and it came right out. Got fuel all over myself. The filter snaps in and out easily. Cleaned out the canister, installed the new o-ring then reversed my steps. I'll test the boat out tonight.

Were you able to catch any of the fuel that was in the canister? This would allow you to see what was in there......all fuel or some water.Mikes Liquid Audio: Knowledge Experience Customer Service you can trust-KICKER WetSounds ACME props FlyHigh Custom Ballast Clarion LiquidLumens LEDs Roswell Wave Deflector And More

I did catch the fuel. No water but the fuel filter was pretty dark and had some particles in it. I took it out last weekend and had the same problem with fuel surge and boat dying. Took it to the dealer and he said there is a float ball that prevents back flow back into the fuel tank that my have been sucked back into the 'spring' and gotten stuck preventing enough fuel to get to the engine. I left it with the dealer and I'll see what the issue truly is in about a week. I'll let you know......
