    oil pressure alarm

Hi, just want to get some advice. I had my oil pressure alarm go off several times this wkend, I was dragging some kids arounds and when coming off of planes to nuetral my oil pressure would drop to "0" and then come up but not until setting the alarm off. I check the oil on the water and everything looked ok. I plan on checking it tonight when I get home when it is cold. When is the best way to check the oil, on or off the water?

When I was up at speed oil pressure was about 40 I think (middle of gauge). I haven't run the boat but 2 or 3 times this year.

Could I have to low or high oil? Oil is fresh also.

    Maybe a bad sending unit?

Boat has been sitting for 2 days now and I lowered the tongue all the way down and check the oil. Oil level is showing about a 1qt high. The engine is still about a 20° angle up, would that make that much of a different. Would to much oil make my oil pressure go to "0"? This hasn't ever happened before. Could this affect my sending unit?

      Thanks

        alarm

My boat has been doing that to. When I put a manual guage on it at the top of the enigine, it doesnt actually drop that low. If you replace the electronic sender on the block, you will find that to fix your problem.

If you have a 350 mercruiser w/ 315hp would you happen to know the p/n of the sending unit. I looked last night but couldn't find one. I have my manuals today so I will look harder this afternoon for it. Need to call some parts stores today, this wkend I will be out all wkend w/ the boat.

Just wandering, if my oil is to high should I drain and could I put the same oil back in (just not as much)?

another dumb question? I just located an "Oil Pressure Sender" but I also found a "Oil Pressure (audio warning system)" - this is on the wiring diagram page. Which one should I be looking at to change, I am thinking the "Oil Pressure Sender" but not sure.

          thanks
