The set screw in the gear shift loosened off while on the water and the shifter was so loose I could not put it in gear. By pushing it in somewhat seemed to work fine. Tightened set screw and everything I thought was fine. In the process of using the gear shifter, the wires to the taps switch must have got mashed up in the linkage, and subsequently they shorted out. When on the water, the wires shorted out and the taps come on in the lift position and I could not turn off unless I turned the boat off. I played with the shifter a bit and the taps buttons and it did eventually stop. I cut the wires individually to the gear shift thinking I would just put a momentary on-off-on switch on the dash but when I touched the wires together the taps would only go down, but not up.
It looks like the wires for the taps switch goes into some sort of black control box with wires coming out to what I assume would be the taps gauge and to the taps piston pump itself. Obviously something is burnt out.
My questions would be:
1. The taps piston is hydralic right?
2. Do you think I would need to replace the black box or the piston or pump?
3. Any suggestions on trouble shooting?
4. With the taps working in the up position and not the down I doubt if it is a fuse?
5. How do you gain access to the inside back of the boat, by pushing down on the back rests to take them out?
6. We have no dealer here and I am wondering where I could get parts really quick. I am in Winnipeg Manitoba Canada ?
Any other information and suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks A lot.
