    Cavitation

I just put on my rebuild prop yesterday and the first time I took off it seemed to of cavitated, or sort of sound like the trans was slipping. (kind of like the effect when you are going fast around a corner and there are alot of waves and your prop sucks in some air). My question is...is that normal. the thing I am thinking about is, I had a smaller prop on my boat to get me thru the week and Im wondering if there is some electronic system that learns the rpms or something???? I dont know. it only happened once and it was the first time I gunned it.
    any thoughts?

Could be off balance, a little tweak is all it takes to make a prop cavitate. Inboards are much more susceptible to any prop variation since there is not as much running gear in the water like with a sterndrive or outboard. I'd take it back to the repair shop or call them and let them know it is cavitating now.

What prop was it that you had rebuilt? Like mtnsmith says, if it didn't do that before hand, it could be something's not balanced properly.

Who fixed it and how? The pitch could be off or the cup has changed on one or more blades.
