    Need help from a TAPS guru

    Since I bought my boat, my TAPS plate and gauge have been the opposite. When the gauge is at 8, the plate is all the way down (waterski mode), and when the gauge is at 1 the plate is all the way up (wakeboard mode). Well after reading the following thread, and chatting with Loudelectronics via PM, I decided to swap the wires going to my ram.

    After swapping the wires, the gauge appears to be working correctly, but my TAPS plate is defaulting to the up (wakeboard) position. I would really like it to default to the down (waterski) position, so the boat planes out right away.

    Any suggestions??

    Was it defaulting before the wire switch, just the opposite position?

    If i'm not mistaken, that's the way its supposed to work....default to wakeboard. Can someone confirm?

    If it were me, I would swap back the wires @ the ram and then swap the signal wire and ground wire at the gauge and it should work like you want.

      I am not sure if this will work. I believe this ended up costing me about 500 bucks in the end replacing the taps brain. Only becuase the power wire to the light uses the same ground as the guage. Just be careful when you do it.

      Anyone know how to over ride it, so it just stays put? Someone told me last season and I never got around to doing it.

        Could be right, what we need is a good pic of the back of the gauge!

        There is a way to disable that, try a search cause I know i've read it posted on here somewhere.

          Before the swap, it defaulted to the waterski position at the plate (so it would plane ASAP), and the gauge would read 8 (wakeboard). If I can't solve this, I'll go back to the way it was.

          Any idea which wires coming out of the brain are the signal and ground's? My guage is pretty difficult to reach from behind.

            I was asking for someone to take a pic of the guage all last week and no one came through. Had to phone Harvey to get the diagram.

            Faria Guage:
            Purple= Remote +
            Black= Ground
            Orange= Accesory +(connects to remote)
            Yellow= Control (connects to bottom terminal under + connection)

              I just tried to take a picture, and the battery in my camera is dead. I can try again tomorrow night if needed.

                Loud - AFter you swapped your wires, is yours defaulting to the up or the down position?

                  What about just swapping the wires on the switch, or just rotate the switch 180*

                    The switch matches what the gauge does. So, when the gauge shows 8, and I press down on the switch the gauge goes to 7,6....3,2,1. I don't think it's the switch. It's either the brain, or the gauge. Or the wireing in between.
