Homemade charger setup

I have an old wheelchair 3 stage peak charger that I'm going to put in the battery compartment with 2 optima batteries. It's a 5A charger and shuts off automatically and is encapsulated. I am hoping this will keep the batteries good for the winter. It even resists bodily fluids, always a plus.
