Where do you have your subs mounted?

Have a 21i and planning some sound upgrades.
I saw a few subs mounted at drivers' feet, however concerned that this might be too loud for driver. Any other options for placement, or your thoughts on being too loud for driver.

    Cheers, Jeff

That seems to be a popular spot for both factory installed and customer installed sub's. You'll feel the sub 'hit', but the volume will be from your mids and tweeters. Mine was factory installed there, it is supposed to be a 'free air', but I built a simple box, and that made a huge improvement.

        Hahahaha Spharis !!

I know I was kind of thinking the same thing while typing in the message. I must be getting old. I just sold a car with a huge stereo with JL 15w6 sub in it...

Get a amp that you can hook up a wired remote gain knob. Alot of the amp manufactures have them now. I have one with an MTX.
I'm on a boat man. I got my flippy floppies....

Definately install it in the drivers kick panel. The sound will be close to perfect (not too loud). It will be muffled if you put it in a compartment. I could barely hear my 2 12" subs when the box was in a compartment. Much better sound now.

I run 2 10" sounstreams in a ported box in the storage behind the observer seat. To get great sound from this you have to have alot of power to your subs. I also removed the plastic cup holders from the dash above to let the base out more. This set generates more base than anyone could ask for. Believe me, as I am a basehead myself.

That's what I used to have minus the missing cupholders. My solution was to leave the compartment door open. Either way it's a hassle. Kickpanel... beter sound and your not loosing one of the biggest compartments. If you mount the subs high in the kickpanel, you dont loose any space.

Any pics of installs from your installs. Would also be interested in seeing where/how you mounted your amps.

                        Cheers, Jeff

Not the greatest picture, but it works. I will probably build a box around it this winter with a vent. It sounds better with the storage compartment door slightly ajar.

                            Sub location

Last month, I installed one Apline 450 watt amp along with one 10" Alpine Type R sub into a ported and sealed box; hid it in the drivers side storage area. In that location, it sounded o.k. This week, had my dealer install fusion tower speakers and one additional Alpine 500 watt amp. At the same time, they remounted my sub in the drivers side kick panel using 2-1/2" screws, took the ported box and moved it to the backside of the kick panel. aligned the hole with the sub and mounted it off the floor. It looks first class and sounds even better! WOW, what a difference. IMO, the only place to mount your subs is in the kick panel - add the enclosure behind it cause it's well worth the money!

I plan on putting one in this winter as well. Let me know how the box works out for you.

                              Thanks!
