    Taps Switch Wiring

My boat is a 2001 2100V. The PO relocated the switch to the dash for reasons I've discovered on this site. The tiny wires running through the throttle are prone to short out. It seems like most people just relocate the switch but has anyone had any success re-wiring it on the throttle? I really would like on the throttle or at least close to it. If the throttle just wont work, has anyone mounted it here:

It's very do-able on the throttle.. Bout 8 years ago me and a buddy spent an evening rewiring his switch on his 22v. If I remember right, the wires pinched at the pivot point.. forward throttle ripped one of the wires in two. They were very small wires and there's not a lot room to play with. Pull the lever off and it seems like there was Allen set screw holding the knob on. We used a flat head screw driver to pry the switch from the knob. No room for wire connectors inside the knob or shaft, so he soldered new wires on the switch and ran them through the shaft, then fed them into the side of the boat, and made the connections further down the wire... hope this helps some..

Thanks Bryan. It helps to know someone has done it with good luck. I'll probably give it a try before I go cutting fiberglass.
