While I was draining the block on my 2011 Tige RZ2, I discovered a loose cable. It was located on the starboard side of the engine, and I had to move it out of the way to get to the block drain plug. It runs the same general route as the cable connected to the alternator/stator. Maybe it is supposed to be this way, but doesn't seem to be correct. Any ideas what this is for?

Lots of extra connectors on most engine harnesses, for various options you may not have. Most likely very normal.
On my engine I found an entire extra cable. Very heavy gauge, perhaps 2/0, with battery-style lugs on both ends. Literally sitting loose across the engine block, both ends free, connected to nothing at all. I just pulled it out and stored it.
It would help if you could provide a photo, so we could see exactly where it is and what kind of connector is on the end.

I presume the engine comes from the manufacturer with a "standard harness assembly" and the boat builder uses the parts they need for the components and accessories on that particular boat.
On mine, I removed the stray cable because I don't like loose pieces rattling around back there with spinning belts and pulleys!
