At the end of last season we bought our first boat. A 22I Riders edition. We had problem with the battery discharging. We found lose cable in the back of the alternator labeled P. Connected the cable and charged the battery but it didn't take long for the battery to discharge again. Replaced the battery but still had the same problem. After trouble shooting we figured the alternator was the cause. We replaced it with a new one but when the battery was connected smoke came out of the new alternator :/ I disconnected all wiring to the alternator and tested the output with the motor running. There is no output so guess I need a new alternator. Any ideas what might have caused this and how to proceed would be much appreciated.
