Slave solenoid?

Boat will not start when I turn key, but when I use a jumper wire on the slave solenoid the starter turns nd it starts. Do I need a new slave solenoid? 350 mag mpi engine. When I turn key no clicks no noise at all.

A 12V test light will confirm. Theres a good chance your engine has a starter reply before the starter mounted solenoid.

Did you try to jump the kill switch? Could be the kill switch went bad.

Ok I am lost, where do I find the kill switch? My ignition switch was bad, I replaced that. The solenoid i jumped is on top of the motor next to a 50 circuit breaker. I can't push in the breaker button.

Maybe it's the relay I am talking about, it's not mounted on the starter.

OK I figured out what the problem was. Relay is good, solenoid is good. Throttle not in neutral is bad. After I replaced the ignition switch yesterday I was so convinced it should start I never looked at the throttle, how stupid.

Glad you got it figured out, another common starting issue when nothing cranks is the kill switch. It's the little toggle switch near the helm with the red string attached that your supposed to hook to your life jacket when driving so that if you accidentally fall out it kills the engine. It's more important in smaller boats and regions of the country where the average boat operator is operating on a kindergarten level of competency (such as California).

You should have, unless the previous owner took it out, my 1988 and 93 Bayliner had one.
