    second battery question

I know that this has been covered extensively and I appreciate everyone's input on this already. I am almost ready to add a second battery using chp's diagram but have two remaining questions. I have an 06 20v and the alternator cable goes to the starter and stops there.

    1. Should I disconnect this and continue it to the Blue Sea ACR that I purchased or keep it connected and run a new cable from the alternator to the ACR?

    2. Disconnect it and cap it there and run a separate cable from the alternator to the ACR?

    3. What size cable should I use for the alternator cable?

    4. From everything I remember reading I should use 2/0 for the other cables between batteries, switch and ACR. Is this correct?

Thank you for your expertise on this. I am just learning as I go and this site has been a huge help.

    1) No, leave the Alt cable terminating at the starter. Since the starter is connected to the B+ post of the battery, so is that alt cable, all be it electrically and physically. That starter cable on the battery will end up on the switch

    2) no, see 1.

    3) see 1

    4) 4ga to connect the ACR to the switch. The ACR will only carry the amperage of the alternator. 1/0ga to connect the new battery's GND to the existing battery's GND. 1/0ga to connect the new battery's B+ to the switch. 1/0ga to connect the existing battery's B+ to switch.
