    Batteries ??

I have read quite a few threads about different battery setups, I am in the need of a new starter battery. My question is, are the combo batts start/deep cycle good to go with or just get a starting battery? What brand would be a fair value?

The boat came with an old starting battery that is shot and this one http://www.autozone.com/autozone/acc...er=315062_0_0_ that is one year old and in great shape.. Currently have a perko switch

Here is what I have. I put them in last year. I the larger is the radio / pump / accessory / house battery. The other battery is almost exclusively used for starting. Assuming that yours are isolated, I think a generic is fine. Just make sure it has enough cranking amps. I think my starting battery is the 24m xd. The other is the newer pro ecl series -- 29m. The numbers on the starting battery are: 550 cold cranking amps, 690 marine cranking amps, and 140 reserve capacity. The ECL Pro has great numbers as a house battery and supposedly charges better on a standard alternator while running the boat. I think a lot of people use these batteries for trolling with electric motors. Anyway, the 29m Pro battery has 675 cca, 845 mca, and 210 reserve. I have the Marine power 340hp and it all works fine.
