    Hour meter reset

While we were at the beach for a good night of "relaxation", the house battery got a little drained. No big deal as that's why I have two, however on my way back, I noticed my hour meter on my RMP gauge reset to zero hours.

We baught the boat used last Sept and it read 78 hrs at the time. It's an '06 so I figured this to be to good to be true given a few other things that tipped me off. I baught it from a Tige dealer who even listed the 78hrs on their add description.

Luckly I installed Perfect Pass this winter so I know what by true hrs are from this point on but who knows how many are really on the engine.

    Does this happen frequently?

Oh - and before I get responses like "check it at the ECU", I don't have one...'06 carbed MP 5.7 315hp. I know it's odd but true.

yes, its very common for the Faria gauge to reset when the battery voltage dips real low.

Even though its a carb'd engine, it may still have an ECM that controls spark time. If so, the actual hours may be stored there.

That sucks. Maybe a good ol' analog gauge in the engine compartment like my Volvo had is the best thing to have.

      .

None that I see nor do I see in the MP manual.

You also seem to know about the Blue Sea ACR so another question for you...The LED light that I extending to the helm appeared to be in lockout mode but he LED light seemed to be flasing slow, not fast which according to the instruction means the starting lockout is engaged. I do have the lockout wire connected to the yellow starting post on my ignition. Is there much difference between fast blink and slow blink? Who's to say?

I'm pretty sure the ACR went into lockout mode as my house battery was close to or under 11v so it didn't charge until I put the battery switch in the ALL position. My LED transom lights even turned off. The manual says 9.5v but their flow chart says under 10.5v will put it into lockout.

Either way, it looks like I may be in the market for a 3rd battery setup.

Translation: Poor electronics design. Nonvolatile memory ain't exactly a new development, folks!

ya...same with my '04. They advertised it as having 6 hours I think Wound up only having about 110 after they checked the ECU. So ya...they reset.

Mine had 76 Hrs last year, had battery issues this spring and now have 8 Hrs. Thankfully won't go to jail for odometer tampering.
