We took the boat out yesterday, batteries charged ready to go. When I went to start it, it didn't seem like it wanted to catch at first. Turned key again, same thing. Waited a bit. Checked the batteries and voltage all looked good. Then tried again and got a strange "whirring" sound. Tried tapping on the starter and tried again, once again absoultely nothing but that strange "whizzing/whirring" sound. Nothing engages. No clicking. Just that strange sound. Any ideas??
Evidently the last time my wife took the boat out the large exhaust hose coming from the manifold blew off (who knows how), which she got back on and was then able to drive the boat back to the launch. However, she did mention that there was water in the engine compartment. Not sure if this is all related, as the boat was running great all summer until the hose blew. But even then it ran and they boated back to the launch.
