    Taps not working???

My taps is not working this year. It did however start to work after I left the boat in the water over night but after I shut the boat off it failed again. The taps gauge goes right to 7+ but the ram is at the 1 position.

I have tested all the electrical and under the dash it is getting power and sending power to the ram. The control switch is working as it was giving good readings for up/down/neutral.

I can hear the RAM trying to work but it sounds like it is bound. It is making a slight vibrating noise that you can feel also.

Anyone have any input? Ram shot? Ram Jammed?

    Trim Tab

Is the pump pushing hydrolic fluid? If you need a new actuator, http://bennetttrimtabs.com/ is the Manufacture. If you take the ram (actuator) apart, be careful because the internal spring is under pressure!

2004 should be a Lenco, if you hear it running and its not moving it must have stripped a gear in the ram.
When you shut the key off after 5 to 10 minutes you should hear the ram run as it is supposed to default to wakeboard mode or all the way up by design in that year, if it isnt contact lenco dirrectly they can help you.

        Thanks Dom!

I beleive the motor is shot. I pulled it apart and found water in the housing. The motor also has the burnt smell to it. If I supply 12v to it, it just vibrates and smells worse but does not actually turn.

I got a new ram from Lenco. Installed today and the taps is still not working. There is =- 10 volts going to the wires from the TAPS head unit. As soon as you hook it up to the wires that run to the taps it will drop to 0.12 volts. Disconnect the wires and the volts come back.

Not sure what I am missing. Starting to drive me nuts.

          Anyone have any input?

No Tige dealers to take too anywhere within 500k.

see which wire has power when unpluged and in what direction the switch is going, the polarity switches with the switch, which means when the switch is in one direction one wire is a ground and the other power, then when you flip the switch the other way the other wire becomes power and the other ground.
Take atest light and hook one side to one wire and the other end to to the other and see if the light is bright when you move the switch in both directions, this will test both power and ground.
If the ligt doesnt light test the ground connection at bar under dash to lenco module, if ground is good box is bad.

Meant to say Thanks Dom for the help.

Someone was a moron and did not reconnect the ground to the battery for the taps. Not sure why my volts were all good when testing but once I found the ground it all works.

New question though. My Taps guage is now backwards with the new ram actuator. It also seems to be off calibration. Do I have to reverse the wires to power the ram or do I need to do something on the guage.

I remember when I put the new module in last year up was down so I just turned the switch over. Now the guage is backwards so not sure what is the best way of going about this to fix it.

I should mention I was the moron who put new batteries in.
