    Wire to Alternator?

Getting ready to get the boat out, general maintenance and ran across this wire in the pic not hooked up. I'm 90% sure it used to hooked to the alternator. Either I ran it like that most of last year, it got disconnected during winterize, or really does not need to hooked up to alternator. Anyone have any ideas on this? Thansk.

Have you tried tracking it back to see where it goes?

I remember you were chasing a low voltage issue last summer, but fixed it. Does the eyelet have any witness marks like it was bolted down at some point?

Not yet - I think I will. If anyone has a 2006 22Ve, and can take a look at alt to see if both red cable and one wire are connected....

Came to me - that blue crimp is mine, and yes it was hooked up about two years back. In running down the issues, I was tighening all grounds/hots couple years back. Tightened the original alternator hot stud down too much and broke the small wire connection/terminal. Crimped new terminal on and bolted down.

Along comes the new alternator install last May and new throttle accuator last June (both service dept). Must have ran all last summer without wire connected, unless it was disconnected during winterize, think highly unlikely.

Will track it back. For now, I'm thinking for hooking it back up, and also calling service dept.

I have stereo electonics and an alarm sys onboard, but I never would think any wiring would go to alternator.

Looks like the wire that comes from the starter main. I just rebuilt my motor and I believe this was the charging wire.

Check to see if it goes back to the starter.

Will do, thanks. Have not yet had a chance.

There is a heavier guage wire within the same split loom, blunt cut and taped up.

There is a wiring diagram in the downloads for the 20V... should be much the same as yours.

Tracked down where the wires go. Basically leaving the red jumper wire unhooked - all is working. Don't know, but if it's working, I'm happy.........
