'03 22v hour meter question

We just purchased an '03 22v and have a question about the hour meter. For some reason the radio will only get power when the ignition is on. Does anyone know if this causes the hour meter to advance? I've heard of some meters that won't move unless the motor is running or the rpm's are above a certain level. I didn't want to start out by reworking the wiring..

On my 03 the hour meter only advances when the engine is running. The radio should also work in the accessory position, one turn to the left from off. That position should only power the radio and accessory sockets.

Gizmo... thanks for the quick response... and accurate also.
The manual I got with the boat didn't have that... I'm guessing the original owner lost it..
