    illegible display

Hey guys, I'm not sure what happened, but over the course of a couple of weeks this display went from being fine to what you see pictured! It is totally smooth on the outside, so whatever happened is inside. So first question - is it possible to remove the entire dash and gauge cluster at once to get to this? (I also want to remove speedo and tach bezels to clean up and paint.)

Second question - any idea if there is a source for replacing this display if necessary?

    Thanks for any help!

What happens when you put wax or something on that plastic face? Can you temporarily see the text in the scratched up areas?

Any Tige dealership can order you a new screen. Not to bad to replace. The entire billet panel will need to be removed. It has 4 studs on the back from what I recall and the whole billet piece comes out with the gauges attached.
    Oh Yeah!

Thanks KoolAid. I'll try the wax trick, but I'm pretty sure the bad areas are on the inside.

      I appreciate the help!

That is my guess too but something to test. I have seen someone cut the old clear plastic off and replace it with a lexan strip. Thought maybe this could work for you.

Weil Thing Any luck replacing the LCD? Mine is unreadable as well and I'd like to replace it.

Hey, sorry for the late reply. I ended up buying a new one from Texas Tige, as nothing I tried worked.

Do you have the p/n for the display by chance? Mine has no display at all.

Tige Team - I am having the same illegible display issue on my 2007 24Ve. Visible a month ago and now the text has disappeared. I got a quote from my Tige dealer for the replacement part for $1600. Is there another option?

I have the same issue on my 2008 22Ve. I found a prior thread here that references a part on this site that is no longer available. Seems to be the same part as is on Ebay for $125. I'm going to order one and give it a try. Anyone pulled off that bezel before and have any tips?

Leaving more description here for the next person who is thinking about attempting this repair. The Ebay for $125, KYOCERA/OPTREX 2.8" 128x64 LCD Graphic Display Module F-51852 LEDBL51852D-W-1, does fix the issue. Getting to the LCD panel isn't too bad, laying on your back and reaching up under the steering wheel, you can easily reach the four nuts that release the LCD housing and unplug the six pin connector.

Unscrew the housing and it reveals the LCD screen which has a small white connector and a gold colored strip connector connected to a green circuit board. Slide out the old strip connector and unplug the white connector and plug in the new one - reattach and re-install. Whole job is less than 30 minutes.

Thanks SO MUCH for this update; I've got to do the same to my recently purchased '08 22ve. Currently working on getting the interior gelcoat ready for the re-upholstered cushions & seatbacks, then on to the electronics. You've just saved me quite a bit of angst.

Thanks again, and have a good one,
                      Mike
