    battery help!!!!

Just found out tonight that my battery maintainer was set on 6volts, will this ruin my battery? I switched it over to 12volts, then I put my big charger on it. I plan on letting it on over night on Deep cell, 10amp charge. I wanted to drop the boat in for a couple of hours tomorrow night for a couple of hours. Do you think I should be ok.

    Thanks
    Dale

If your battery maintainer has an auto off, then NO. It would be looking at you battery and seeing 10 – 13 volts and be in the off mode. Actually the voltage from the battery would try and flow back into the charger. (Voltage is to electricity, like pressure is to water)
If your Battery maintainer does not have an auto off, I would be more concern with damage to the maintainer, but seeing how it is a maintainer and not a charger, I would bet it does have an auto off.

I doubt it would hurt the battery(s), may just leave them under charged if anything. As far as the charger goes, i'll bet it has diodes on the charge circuits, so the fact that the batteries showed x2 the voltage that the charger was putting out, would not hurt it.

        Thanks...
went out this morning and checked out the battery after being charged last night. I fired it up for about 2 secs. The boat has sat for the last month this wouldn't hurt anything would it? I just wanted to check and see if it would fire.

Chp, what is the water temp at Norman right now? Cold yet?

Personally I never start my engine unless in the water or connected to a fake-a-lake.
(This is prevent damage to the raw water impeller)
Also if it is not in the water, never put it into gear as you can harm the packing on the prop shaft.

I never have either, but had to go to work and just wanted to see if it would turn over or if I needed to buy a battery today at lunch. I am going w/ it as is for tonight and we see how it runs. I dropped the charger down to 2amps and left it on for today.

Dale, Did you go out on Belews today? If so, do you know the water temp? We were on Tuckertown today and water was not bad at 74, but will be dropping fast with cooler temps in the forecast.

your fine, but if you had 6volts, and had it on 12v, you would have smoked things

Yes, water was perfect..I would say still around 80° at the hot hole and couple degrees lower down stream. Just not enough time after work.

Finally got some air off the wake and the guys forgot to hit the record button. I'm bummed, I know I probably only getting about 1' off the water but at 47 it is a start.

I took my back seat so I had 320#'s across the back and a 400# sac on each side of the engine w/ taps about 1/2 way. At first the wake was scary, I may have a video of it. I had a guy w/ me, he goes around 380#'s I think, (I told him he was movable ballast ). I had to let him drive because when we setup for surfing and all the weight was on one side of the boat and he was sitting on that side also the water was coming in the boat over the side. Never had that happen.LOL.

Hey Chp, we need to get together before the end of the year. We need to come to Norman over the next couple of wks or I need to talk you into coming up this way.

                      Hi thtrog,

also the water level is down, I don't know where you put in at. Carolina shouldn't be bad but 65 is getting low.

Give me a heads up if you do, I have a friend who wants to make some wakeboard runs and we can come up also.

I know I met you one time at the Greensboro boat show but it would be really neat to see someone who can really wakeboard. I'm to old for tricks but still trying.
