HELP - no start (at resort on Norfolk Lake for the week)

Any trouble shooting suggestions will be appreciated.

At Lake Norfolk for the week. Dropped the boat in and it would not start.

Turning the key left to acc position does not turn on anything on the dash, such as the lcd display. Turning to the right start position does nothing -- no clicking or other sounds.

There is power to the lights, blower, and other accessories.

It was dark by the time we got to our hotel (checking in to Teal Point tomorrow).

In the morning I will check to make sure the battery leads are connected (boat was just in the shop for a processor swap and other work).

Batteries should be fully charged. 3 deep cycles and 1 starter battery, all on a battery tender.

Also, any suggestions for a local Tige dealer or a trusted shop around here is appreciated.

Thanks in advance for any help!

    Transmission in neutral?
    Ambivalent? Yes. Or Not.

Either bad ignition key cylinder or disconnected ignition wire?

(I had the key cylinder break earlier this year, but it was physically broken, allowing the key to spin 360 degrees without hindrance.)

Transmission in neutral. Dead mans switch is not pulled.

The key feels normal in acc or start position.

Will check wiring tomorrow. With disconnected ignition wire, would there be no power in the acc position?

        Great suggestions though! Thanks.

Check your kill switch... Jiggle it, move it, engage and disengage it.

Check your perko switch if you have one.

Does the horn blow, bilge and blower run?

Not sure how it is wired, but most marine have a large circuit breaker somewhere around the main harness on the engine that feeds most of the dash. Do you have test lamp?

If you have power to some things (blower etc.) then issue is not battery (or batteries).

Did it run after they replaced processor? I assume the processor is part of the touch screen display? (don't new Tige's have touch screens, man is that a bad idea IMO)

Nothing worst then being on a trip and having boat issues, I have been there and feel for you.

                Zad wins a medal.

I actually got up at 6:30am because I woke up thinking about the perko/isolator. It was off.

I would have guessed that the isolator at the off setting would have shut down the entire electrical (including lights, pumps, and blower, which were still working). Perhaps that (and my lack of sense) led me to not check that while floating on the trailer yesterday.

Sigh. Yesterday's ramp experience is not one I hope to ever replicate. I am sure I have more to look forward to over the life of the boat

Thanks to all the TO homies. You guys rock

Related -- I have a Nissan Armada I pulled it up that forsaken hill with. The transmission temp ran really hot up the hill in 4-LO in 1st gear. I had to give it a rest when the tranny started jumping. Question is what are the chances for damage being done? WHen I get home, should I replace tranny fluid?

Only the 2010 models will have touch screen available. The processor he was talking about was probably either SpeedSet or ECU.

I'm not the one to answer regarding damage to the tranny, but since I have a 4WD Armada also, I was wondering:
-How steep/long was that hill to have to run it in 4-LO?
-Does your Armada have the tow package with separate tranny cooler?

Great to hear there was no issue with the boat. "Operator Error" issues, while embarrassing, are much easier to fix.

Heat is the #1 killer of trany's, Aids is 2nd. Yes, have a fluid flush when you return. X2 on checking for the tow package. If you dont have an external trans cooler, may look into one if this is your regular tow vehicle and this it a regular route you take.

chpthril is right, heat kills nearly all automatics. I have a Titan and all of them (Aramda is nearly exact same platform) have the external trans cooler, the towing package has temp gauge, I think all Armada has the gauge. Not sure why it would have got that hot. 4WL is crazy, why did you need 4WL? I hope the road was not paved as you should never run anyhting in 4WD on dry high friction road, maybe the drivetrain was all bound up and doing more harm then good. What are details of this hill? I would definitly change trans fluid ASAP.

The hill he is describing is a long, windy, steep, paved road. It is paved but it was paved a long time ago so now its has pot holes and loose gravel all around, not to mention a giant speed bump at the top.

Check the fluid condition when you get home. If its still pink and clear then no need for a fluid change.

Short periods of higher temps shouldnt hurt anything. Operation strategy on newer transmissions will lock the torque converter when temps start to reach 220-230(depending on manufacturer) in order to try to cool the trans down. This may be the what you felt, especially in 4Lo when engagement and disengagement of the torque converter will feel more pronounced.
