When I hookup the 420, should I hook the RCA's for the zx700 the same way for the in boats (Y adapter), then plug the RCA's from the 420 sub output directly in to the sub input on the amp as well?

Tim- Any suggestions on the crossover frequency for the tower speakers?

Thanks for all the help Phil.

    Jason-

Your in-boats connected to the 700.5 should have WS420 front out to AMP1, WS420 rear outs to AMP2 and WS420 sub outs to the SUB amp input. You should not need y-cords for this amp, hopefully.
    It's not an optical illusion.
    It just looks like one.....

That's why I thought I would have to use y-cords for both amps since there are only three outputs on the 420 if I recall.

Okay, if there are only three outputs on the WS420 you can still connect without y-cords.

On the 700.5, there is a provision for signal transfer from AMP1 to AMP2 (and then on to the sub amp if you literally want ONLY one RCA wire to the 700.5). On the older 700.5, it is done internally and automatically. On the newest 700.5, there is a switch on the end called FADER.

For your system, take one full range RCA cable from the WS420 and connect it to AMP1.

If you have a FADER switch/button, set it to its OUT setting, instead of pushed in. This will energize AMP2 with the RCA cables connected to AMP1. If you have no fader switch, hopefully you will not have to do anything; you should get output. If not let me know.

Then connect the SUBWOOFER RCA cables from the WS420 to the subwoofer amp input.

The reason for "letting me know" is that one time, a long time ao, CHP had a 700.5 that would not automatically send signal to AMP2. That is the only one I have ever heard do that, so you should not have that problem. CHP did end up using y-cords to deliver signals both to AMP1 and AMP2

          Mike- does that clarify things?

Crystal clear for me Phil, if I run in to anything different during the install I will let you know. Thanks again for all the info!

Sounds like a plan, "cabin" RCA output of ws-420 to 700.5 (with or without Y's, "Tower" outputs of ws-420 to 350.4 with Y's and "sub" output of ws420 to "sub" input of 700.5

If it were me, I would run with one set of RCA's from the ws-420 to the 700.5 and use the "cabin" dial to tone down the cabins and sub together through the amp. It's my personal preference, but I hate to have the sub pounding away with only the towers cranking. Just my personal preference as the ws-420 is pretty flexible to allow for a variety of configs.

The xs700.5 performed flawlessly, I just didnt like how it was setup from the factory with front an rear going to cabin amp and non-fade to tower. I wanted to be able to fade from cabin to tower. We discovered this anomaly when trying to reconfig with front RCA's from H/U going to 700.5 and rear H/U RCA's going to tower. You figured it out and we never looked back.
