Wetsounds or focal speakers

I currently have 6 mb quart premium speakers on my tower being run by a ppi 1000.4. I don't really like the quality of the mb quarts at high volumes and have blown several speakers. I was wondering if it would be better to replace the mb quarts with 6 6.5" focals or if I should ditch my current setup and go with 4 wetsounds.

I also have 3 pairs of the mb quart premiums running throughout my boat on a seperate ppi 1000.4

The HLCD speakers from WetSounds, etc will be louder behind the boat then a car audio speaker. Focal makes great speakers but the WetSounds will do a better job at projecting music to the rider.

Wetsounds are the shizzz and thats what i would get if i were you.We sell/Install them at our dealership and have had no real big issues only very small ones that have been taken care of by wetsounds 100% of the time no questions asked.If I had to make a suggestion i would get the 3-some its just awsome looking and sounds even better but that my personal preferance.Any combo of their stuff on your tower will sound great.The amp you are runnning should work fine as well.

Dont even need to get into a discussion about quality, but for a marine environment and especially for a tower setup, the Wet Sounds win hands down.

What are you looking to accomplish, what is your budget, and you need to spend the right amount of money on an amp if you drop the coin on the speakers. Where are you located?

Will the precision power dcx1000.4 not suffice for the tower speakers? How clear is the sound from the wet sounds towers? I don't want it to sound like crap in the boat (nice to have good rider projection, but I want decent sound too). I'm from Dallas, Tx.

I just got my boat back from the stereo shop for the installation of three pairs of XS-650's powered by a syn-4 amp and two PRO-80's powered by a syn-2 amp. I did have a WS-420 installed also. All I can say is WOW does it crank beyond belief and clear as a bell. You cannot go wrong with Wet Sounds at all. I am going to post some pics in the near future.

I dont know the specs off hand for that amp, so cant say as it depends on what you want. You can approach this 2 ways: Pick a tower setup that will be powered properly with the amp you have, or decide on a tower set up that you want, and then see if that amp will work. You may need to add a 2nd amp or replace the amp all together.

I looked up the specs on that amp and it will do 125x4. So you have good power for a couple of set ups. You can do 2 pairs of PRO 60's if you want a good all around loud and clean system for the rider. Or you you can do the Double Up system that is going to be loud and clean for the rider as well but more mid bass and less highs so designed for the surf style or party cove type system. You could also do the 60 3-Some. Which is a 3-Some set up using our PRO 485 and the PRO 60's on the outsides vs the regular PRO 80's on the outside. This will be a better fit with the amp you have vs. powering the 80's. Not sure what tower you have, but that amp would be really nice on a pair of PRO 485's. 500x2 in bridged mode!!!

Focal makes a nice car audio speaker. Nice sound quality. But in a boat and on a tower. You will want something that can overcome the engine noise and wind noise. And the rider is 80 feet back at 22 miles an hour. So you have a lot of obstacles to overcome.

You really can't go wrong if you can spend the money on WS products. Ever have a personal response from the owner of Focal?? You have WS....and it doesn't change after they have your money--they answer ALL your questions and don't even laugh at you when you ask stupid ones (I've had my share!!)

btw. My nieghbor liked my stereo so much he ordered a full suite of WS for his Baja that I'll be installing for him.

Focal speakers are respected for their sound quality. It would be a natural transition from your current MB Quart to Focal. The Focal Access and MB Quart Discus 6 1/2-inch coaxials share a similar tonal balance. But neither have the power handling to project at 80 feet. Inversely, products higher in the line of either brand will not be efficient enough to constitute a true tower speaker.
