It mutes the tower speakers.

The in-boat & tower speaker volume can be adjusted separately.

Yes, it projects your voice through the tower speakers.

You can use it to tell information to the skier/boarder behind the boat, even while underway. Also, it comes in handy to communicate with other craft on the water, such as yelling at jetskis to stop following so closely.
