    Thtrog's Stereo Upgrade!

A big thanks to thtrog for letting me do his stereo upgrade in his truck

Nothing real wild, just a nice, solid, clean sounding, full range system. It is definitely an upgrade from the factory system.

    From front to back:

Head unit - Sony CDXGT530. USB, Front AUX for MP3, SAT ready, HD ready.
Kicker KS6502 6.5 Mid-Bass Components for the front doors.
Kicker 5250 5.25 Mid-Bass Coaxial for the rear doors.
Kicker CompVT-10 Sub in sealed enclosure under back seat.
Kicker ZX700.5 5chnl Amp with Bass Control Knob powering the 2 pairs of mid-bass speakers and sub.
Kicker amp install kit - 4ga Power and Ground cable and Fuse Holder and 4 chnl RSA Signal Cables.

With the back seat down, the sub and amp are concealed. The front a rear speaker are located in the factory locations to maintain the factory appearance. The tweeters for located in the door's corner trim as they are too deep to mount in the A pillar molding like the factory ones They turned out sweet looking there anyway IMO.

The weather was just awful that weekend. It rained all day Sat and never reached 40. On Sunday, it was about 33 and raining with a little sleet no and then. Not long after I met up with Thtrog to return his ride, it started to snow. By Monday morning, we had about 6-8 ins. I don't have a garage/shop, so I had to work out side. I have a 10x10 canopy that I set up over the cab, then took a 15x30 tarp and pulled it over that. It was cold, but allowed me to stay dry and work.

Great thread and pics chp! Like he said the system is not over-the-top, but a good solid set-up that is soooooo much better than the factory. That being said, the install was great and it sounds really clear, loud, and the bass is amazing for such a small enclosure. The rear seats fold down concealing the system and does not affect the bass. It is a factory box that come with the sub installed TCVT10 COMPVT; I have to make my boys to back off when we pull into the neighborhood and my rear-view mirror is thumping.

Thanks to chp for braving the weather and doing such a clean install for me. Thanks to Kicker for designing such a solid system - yes you Phil. I also want to thank Thomas for the amateur sponsorship for my son Benjamin. It's good for both party's - we'll be giving plenty of demo's & Livin'in Loud this summer!

                Yep, the Comp VT-10 is a low profile/shallow depth sub and comes in the Pre-made enclosure (19x11x6x3) and either a 2 or 4 ohm driver. Pk W's = 800/rms = 400.

T's is the 4 ohm and is getting 210 W's. It sounds very nice in a small enclosed space like the cab of a truck.

What's it got in it right now, all factory? 4 speaker system? What do you want - better sound, more volume, more full-range, MP3, SAT, HD, TV? Or do wanna just blow the windows out

We were heading out to the lake yesterday on windy, but warm 80 degree day, so I took a few pics. The new Kicker system has been a lot of fun!

There is a Kicker fuse block hiding behind the battery.....
