cutting bulk head for sub

Need help, what did you guys use to cut the bulk area? Mine is about 1/2 thick (or thicker) fiberglass. I wanted to use a router so I could get a nice round hole but they are telling me I need a tungsten carbide cutter. I looked at the cutter and don't think it w/ hold up. I have carbide cutters but it will just eat the teeth off.

What do you think about a jigsaw or reciprocating saw w/ diamond inpregnated blades?

I use a jigsaw/sabre saw with a med/fine kinda metal cutting blade.

I used a combination of a rotozip and jig/saber saw. If no hole was there I would have totally used the rotozip with the circle cutter adapter

Rotozip finally quit working but I do have a laminate router (small router) and will do the same. Problem is what type of blade are you using?

Chp - have a jigsaw also w/ 5 blades, did you use a standard in the box blade or one of the diamond coated blade?

I just used the ones that came in the box with the rotozip. Broke 2 of them but i was enlarging an exixting hole and did not always keep the rotozip flush. Saber saw blade I used a regular medium fine metal cutting blade. Again nothing special, the cheap ones

It was just a std blade

Ok thanks. I know I have enough around here to do then. I went to Lowes and he was telling me I needed special blades, I figured the fiberglass would eatup the steel cutters but I have some high grade carbide one and thought they should work fine.

This is a measure a dozen times and cut once... You know that, I just don't want to mess it up.

Hey Chp, baseball season is starting but when the weather brakes and I get some free time if you feel like it we will take a ride. I think I got my wake pretty good now w/ the weight I got. I need to come up w/ a goal for the wakeboard this year. I finally jumped the whole wake after 2 years. I am getting old.

Yes, your boat already has perforations in the wall for a 10" sub and a 6.5 speaker. All you need to do is feel the carpet till you find the spot, then connect the dots (slots really) and your set, here is a pic, but dont remove the carpet as in the pic, this one got a 12" with a sealed enclosure

A few yrs back, Tige started perforating the wall for a 10" sub, 6.5 mid, and the small hole was for a component tweeter, dont know when they started
