    What Amps Do I Need

I am getting a nice tax return this year and decided to upgrade my stereo system. I currently have a Sony CDX-R5515X head unit and six Clarion CM1605 interior speakers. I bought two pro 80's, one XS-10FA sub and a WS-420. I will not be able to put anymore speakers on the tower due to the dimensions. I do plan on replacing my Clarions with XS-650's. I want to stick with Wetsounds amps and don't know which Syns I need but I am pretty sure I don't need the Syn 6.
Which one do I need to run the one pair Pro 80's?
Which one do I need to run the 10" sub and interior speakers.
Also will the Sony head unit work well with this set up?
    Thanks in advance.

    Carter,

Do you have an amp powering the in boats now? Since you have 6 of them, i would assume you do as most head units will not like the 2 ohm load running 2 pairs of two of the chs and the other 2 pairs of the other two.

So if you do. You can use the SYN-4 to power the 80's and bridge on the XS-10FA. In 3 ch mode.

Make sure that you have the XS-10FA D-2. Dual 2 ohm. This will let you run the woofer in series making it a 4 ohm load to the amp.

The SYN-6 is the best option since it has the flexibility to run many different configurations. And it will eliminate the need to have so many amps.

If you do not have an amp already for the in boats. Use the SYN-6 to run all the in boats on chs 1-4 and the PRO 80's on chs 5-6 in high pass mode.

Then you can use a SYN-Micro on the XS-10FA as it will do 250 watts mono at 4 ohms.

So it would be a great sounding system without a ton of amps. So only one big one and one tiny one.

If you do have the amp already in the boat. You could also maybe use that for the sub with the SYN-6 on the in boats and 80's.

Or if the amp in the boat is powerful enough. You might be able to run the inboats and sub off the SYN-6 and the 80's off the amp you already have.

Let me know if you do already have an amp. But it kinda sounds like you don't have one right now

Of course you could also run the SYN-6 on the in boats and sub and a SYN-2 on the 80's if you wanted to go all out!

Sony head unit will be fine. You are using the 420 so you will be boosting the voltage to the amps a ton which is the weakest area on those head units so you are good to go there.

      Tim,

Thanks for the reply. I know very little about stereos but I did look through the whole boat and cannot find an amp.
So I will go with the SYN-6 for the pro 80's and in speakers. I have the dual 4 ohms XS-10FA so will the SYN-Micro still work for that?

        OK cool.

You would not be able to use the SYN-Micro on the dual 4 ohm. The syn micro can only bridge mono in a 4 ohm load.

You can only wire the XS-10FA dual 4 ohm in either a 2 ohm load or 8 ohm.

See if you can swap it out for the dual 2 ohm.
