Clarion CMD3 remote and CDM4a receiver compatibility

    Clarion CMD3 remote and CDM4a receiver compatibility

    Clarion marine receiver question, do you guys know if my CDM3 remotes will work with a CMD4a receiver? The Clarion site does not seem to have the info, at least I cannot find it. I am trying to track down a local Clarion dealer also. As I said in another thread, my receiver and amps got stolen from the boat so I am shopping for replacements and trying to spend as little cash as possible. As always, thanks for your feedback.

    What remotes do you have, round or oval? I'm 99% sure the round's will be completely compatible. Ovals I think will work, but may not give you full function.

        I have the ovals. Do you happen to know what functionality you lose? All I really care about is volume and mute. I am going to try to call Crutchfield and ask they too, they have the CDM4a for $179 and they have smart tech folks. I guess the worst that can happen is I buy it, hook it up and it doesn't work and I send it back. Or keep it and buy new remotes.

          I know there was a compatibility table. I was going to do the same thing and the remotes were compatible. I have the same remotes as you. I have googled for the table but cannot locate it know. The clarion website will not let me sign up for support. I am sure it is on there website

              I have one oval and one round and they both have full functionaity. I found remotes on eBay for half what crutchfield wanted.

                My ovals work with my CMD5 just fine.

                  That is odd as I have a round with a CDM5 and there is no display although all the functions work.

                      I emailed Crutchfield with this remote question and while they did not know the answer, they did remind me they have a 30 day return policy so if the receiver does not work with the remotes I can return it. An interesting sidenote more than anything else and I am impressed with the thought put into this email.

                        I have delt with Crutchfield on many different times and have always been impressed with there service I would always recomend them over Worst Buy
                        4-7-09 And still employeed for yet another week (subject to change at any moment)have we hit bottom yet?
