    Sub Help

    I have a 12W3 sub in a sealed enclosure (Check HERE for pics) powered by the sub portion of an Arc Audio 900.6. I want to get a little more thump to keep up with the rest of the system. In that previous thread Tim said the box looks to be a decent size so I may be able to just drop something else in its place. I'm not opposed to removing the box in favor of something ported, I just can't go too much bigger because I love all of my storage.

          From the picture I have it looks like it says 12W3-D2 Dual Voice Coil Subwoofer which according to http://mobile.jlaudio.com/pdfs/12W3v2_MAN.pdf is a dual coil 2ohm subwoofer running at 4ohms.

            so how do you have it on the 900.6. If it is at 4 ohms and you have the chs 5 and 6 bridged it would be around 550 watts.

            The JL says 300 rms. So it would be way more power than needed.

            You could replace that woofer with a dual 4 ohm(xs12), run it in 2 ohm mode off just ch 5. Then add another woofer dual 4 ohm(xs12), run it in 2 ohm mode off ch 6.

            Or build a new box ported for a big woofer(XS-XXX), dual 2 ohm, run it bridged off chs 5/6.

            But that box looks too small for a XXX. Plus the XXX likes ported boxes. Will work in both but really likes ported!

              It's Channels 5&6 bridged for the 550 watts.

              I'm good with those options, I'm trying to see what my best option is with my current amp and start building from there this winter.

                I'll join you in the effort of changing out the sub. I need to change out the JL with the XXX and make a new bigger box. I'm not sure if this one is ported or not or what the volume is.......Larry?
