So they mix it with a standard wet cell on the starting side?
That's the way it reads to me I don't like this idea because of the diff in charge rates between Wet and gel, couple that with a .5-.7v drop across the Iso, and you have a low starting battery.

That is how it reads. I think the wet cell will recharge quicker, won't it? So that would mean that the system would recharge the starting battery first, and then top off the wet cell, so I think it would be OK.
I still think it makes the most sense not to mix and match. I guess we will know in a year or so how well that works when guys start complaining they got stranded in their Tige.

It sounds like they could use one red or yellow top and a blue top.
Would that do it?
That would, and they may be doing that on the 09..........Anyone with an 09 w/EIDB want to pull your battery covers and tell us what ya got!!!

^^^ I'm with you Jim, you just cant beat a good quality wet-cell, a lot of bang for the buck. If you are going to the wild side with a system, or want to crank the tunes for 8 hours a day on Sat and Sun while at the sandbar, then it's worth looking into something like Kinetics or 6v's.

I can tell you that my boat (an '07) came with an Interstate battery and then something else for starting it. They are 2 different amperage batteries, I think one is a 750 cca and the other is like a 950 or something. I understand that they are both wet cell batteries so they most likely charge at the same rate.
OK - I finally got around to taking a look at my batteries. I got the factory EIDB system (but, I did not get the ballast or Tower or Power systems - maybe that made a difference). Mine came with Interstate cranking and deep cycle batteries. See pics below. Hmmm....should I be upset or relieved that it isn't Optima? Or are they about equal?
Also - the isolator is a Blue Sea. Any reason for concern?
