    Stereo 911!!!

One of my Wet Sounds 485s is not working. I have swapped RCA inputs and it is not the cause. My next step is to:

    1. Swap out wire to the speakers

So right now, it is either the amp, the wiring to the speaker or the speaker.

I have a 4 channel amp that is bridged for the two speakers. I have checked all the fuses on the amp. Any thoughts on what the problem may be?

OWN and SBFAN were on my boat today. We had a great time, but SBFAN will be in the same stereo contest. Hmmmm, did he do something?

Pull the suspect wires off the amp and put a DVOM across them and see what the impedance is, should 4ohm +/-.

If not in spec, then check the speaker right at the speaker housing connector.

Do you have some extra speaker wire that you can use to switch the speakers at the tower? Maybe one of the runs got pinched?

Regardless, it will help you eliminate the speaker as the cause of the problem.

Check the nuetrick first. Sometimes the wires gets pulled out of those.

If it is fine, then make a jumper from the speaker that is working. To see if it is the speaker.

If it works, then it is the wire up the tower or the amp. So then swap the wires to the side of the amp that you know is working.

If nothing, you got a shorted wire etc....

But the odds of killing a 485 are one in a million!!!! Worse case is a single blown mid bass etc...but it would be rare to kill the whole thing.

Thanks for the diagram! My connector seem to be correct, so I will move on to the other items.
