yes, but I also have remotes for the HU. So, from the KEQ's documentation, it looks like I have to set it to 3/4 of full volumn and then the HU can control the volume.

yup. On page 7 of the Kenwood manual is the section that talks about control of the hi-pass xrossovers for the front and rear outputs. If you set the HPF and/or HPR to THROUGH it will deliver a full range signal.

You SO can do this install...

You run into the normal set of wiring precautions related to noise, but outside of the power connections, this is about as easy an install as you will ever find.

BTW... I like the subwoofer crossover; it is constantly variable right on the front. NICE.

But... The KEQ5 claims to be parametric, yet the center frequencies and the "Q" are apparently fixed, and hence it is not really parametric. I have no problems with the piece, just problems with its labelling... It actually functions like a simble 5-band graphic EQ..

The answer is totally dependant on the actual install. In my experience, soemtimes you neeed major bad-a$$ RCA cables to get it quiet, and sometimes the el-super-cheapo's are the best.


I know the value of hi-end RCA cables, but I have run into problems with them. Sometimes it is a problem with the cable, sometimes the cable just reveals a problem, but many times, substituting in a cheap one makes it go away...

So the answer is maybe....

da what phil is trying to say is that you just need to rip out your entire stereo system and replace it cuz you have the money obviously since you have two boats

1/2 way or low and increase until distortion occurs.

I would start with the H/U gain at 3/4, and the EQ gain at 3/4.

Then, with a reasonably loud test tune, set the amp gain until it just clips, then turn it down slightly.

This is not precise, but gets you quite close.

Installed the EQ.. Didn't work... Amps didn't turn on...

What is the Remote part of the electrical area????

I connected the Battery and Ground to the - Brown wires that they use for return.


p.s. Wonder if I should stick to computers.. Much easier to program and understand.

Just to add to what i've posted in the PW thread.........The amps only need power, gnd, and the remote-turn-on from the H/U to "turn on". The problem is, they can be on, but not have any output for a variety of reasons.

If the Amps power up (should see a light) and no sound, look close at the RCA's.
