This WW thread provides an effective workaround to stream Pandora off an iPhone through a head unit interface.

i tried to plug the i phone into just a normal docking station using pandora and as soon as i get the phone close to it, it is all static.

try putting your iPhone on "airplane mode". That might get rid of the static noise.
